On his third solo CD, Jamie Houston proves to the R&B world that he deserves the title of Veteran. Marques has been in the music industry for fifteen years and unlike some of his peers he made the successful transition from bubble gum soul into grown & sexy R&B. Veteran first caught attention with the snap R&B single Like This last summer and the ballad Favorite Girl; however it was the smash Circle that caught everyone's attention. Circle which was written by Bryan Michael-Cox isn't the strongest vocal, Houston has ever recorded (that title belongs to Love's A Game from his first CD) but Circle shows his vocals are getting stronger. The ballads are really what the CD work in particular Exclusively, Always & Forever, Miss Being Your Man and the Ne-Yo written Wonderful. My favorite two tracks on the CD though; have to be Kimberly and So Right For Me. Kimberly is the most sexual track on the CD but it's more sensual than explicit; while So Right For Me has a nice summer time feel to it. With this release Houston has more than proven that he can hang with Usher and here's hoping he headlines his own tour this summer our at least opens up for someone big.
