ALICIA KEYS
AS I AM REVIEW

THE J.P. RATING
FEATURED USER REVIEW:
Honestly, I don't believe that multiple Grammy winner/nominee Alicia Keys could ever make a bad album. She is in the elitest league or R&B/Soul singers of today including Mary J. Blige, Angie Stone, Anthony Hamilton, and John Legend who truly sing from deep within. Every nuance that Keys sings, you feel and you also feel she is truly convinced and fazed by what she vocalizes. I believe if there was footage detailing the recording process of AS I AM, we'd see every lyric being sung passionately from Ms. Key's lips. That's not to say AS I AM is her best, but it is consistent. Most notable about AS I AM is how different it is from SONGS IN A MINOR and THE DIARY OF ALICIA KEYS. The soul is still there, even multiplied more than it was in some instances from both albums, but there is a heightened sense of fusing Rock and Roll elements along with the soul. Most of the time it works flawlessly, thought there are moments where it is still solid, though a bit flawed. Through and through, AS I AM is another nice addition to Keys's extraordinary discography that is marked by utter consistency.
