We all know that Common is, without a doubt, one of today's most influential rap heavyweights. However, what some may not know is that Common is 35 years old and has been in the rap game since the early 90's. Before hitting mainstream success with his album "Be," Common released five albums between 1992 and 2002 and was known to the streets as Common Sense.
If Common has been in the rap game for over a decade, why has the majority of the rap community outside of the Chi have not heard of Common before his album "Be," which was heavily produced by Kanye. If Kanye never came into the rap game, would the rap community have discovered Common's lyrical abilities? |
